Nebraska Wesleyan University track & field athletes Derek Carson and Matt Glasnapp were two of the 29 men in the nation in all divisions selected to receive a $7,500 postgraduate scholarship from the NCAA for the spring 2009 sports season.

The Nebraska Wesleyan University Track and Field program continues to receive accolades from the 2009 track and field season.  Eight athletes, six men and two women, were named to the United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team.

Nebraska Wesleyan University Track and Field athlete Derek Carson was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  Carson was named to the Academic All-America® First-Team in the college division.  He was a second-team Academic All-America® selection in 2008.

June 4

Nebraska Wesleyan University had three track & field athletes named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country teams that were announced on Thursday (June 4).  Senior Derek Carson was on the District VII First-Team in the college division.  Senior Matt Glasnapp and junior Jackie Spelts were both voted to the Second-Team.

Derek Carson and Matt Glasnapp each earned three All-American awards as they led the Nebraska Wesleyan University men's track team to a tie for 11th place at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Marietta, Ohio. NWU scored 19 team points to tie for 11th.

Nebraska Wesleyan University will have nine athletes competing at the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships that will take place May 21-23 at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio.  The championships squad is made up of seven men and two women.

Nebraska Wesleyan University Track and Field Assistant Coach Kurt Nielsen has been named the 2009 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Central Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year.

The Nebraska Wesleyan University track & field teams both finished third place at the 2009 Great Plains Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships held Saturday (May 2) in Yankton, S.D. The NWU men scored 133 points to finish in third, 21 points behind Concordia University. The NWU women had 106 points to edge Hastings College by six points for third place. Doane College won both the men's and women's title.

April 4

Nebraska Wesleyan opened the 2009 Outdoor Track & Field season on Friday at the Concordia University Invite in Seward, Neb. The Prairie Wolves won five events at the first meet of the season.

March 14

The 4x400 relay team of Derek Carson, Andy Coppersmith, Matt Glasnapp and Myke Pettiford finished in third place at the NCAA III Indoor Track & Field Championships to earn All-America honors for the Prairie Wolves. The quartet ran a time of 3:19.10 to cross the line in third place, and pick up Nebraska Wesleyan's only All-America honors this season.

March 10

Nebraska Wesleyan University will have eight athletes competing at the 2009 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships that will take place March 13-14 at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terra Haute, Ind.  Six men and two women have qualified for the track & field championships for the Prairie Wolves.

February 21

Both the Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track & field teams placed third at the 2009 GPAC Indoor Championships held Saturday (Feb. 21) at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln.

February 20

Both men’s and women’s track teams at Nebraska Wesleyan University are gearing up for the GPAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, February 21.  The meet will be taking place at the Bob Devany Sports Center.  Field events start at 11 a.m. while the running events start at 12 p.m.

January 31

The Nebraska Wesleyan track & field teams competed at the Scott Nisely Memorial Track Classic on Saturday (Jan. 31) at Doane College in Crete, Neb.  Seven NWU women placed in the top three in their events, while six NWU men were in the top three.

January 24

The Nebraska Wesleyan women brought home four first place medals at the NWU Invite held Saturday night (Jan. 24) at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. NWU competed against athletes from Nebraska, Air Force, Kansas State and Northwest Missouri State.
