The Nebraska Wesleyan University women scored 20 team points to finish among the top ten teams in the country in ninth place at the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships that concluded Saturday (May 28) in Delaware, Ohio. The NWU men had 16 team points to tie for 14th overall.

Sophomore Bailey Soucie led the way for the Prairie Wolves on Saturday as she had an outstanding day in the throw events. Soucie became a two-time All-American as she placed in the top eight in two events. Soucie (Cambridge, Neb.) had a toss of 148-1 in the women's discus to place third overall. She also had a mark of 138-2 in the javelin to finish sixth in that event.

For the NWU men, senior Kevin Janata ended his standout four-year career by placing third in the 110 hurdles in a time of 14.51. Janata (Howells, Neb.) earned his third All-American honor.

The other NWU athletes to earn All-America honors on Saturday was the four men in the 4x400 relay. The relay team of John Hower, John Kersenbrock, Matt Holst and Nick Sawyer ran a time of 3:13.20 to place sixth in the final racing event of the day. It was the second All-America honor for Kersenbrock at the meet, while Hower, Holst and Sawyer all earned their first All-America recognition.

Other NWU athletes that competed on Saturday included Jack Chatelain who placed 15th in the men's triple jump (46-4.75), Deanna Dirkschneider who was 10th in the women's discus (138-8) and Katie Schoen who was 17th in the women's high jump (5-3.75).
