Nebraska Wesleyan University sophomore John Kersenbrock has been named this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete-of-the-Week for field events for the week of April 4-10.
Kersenbrock (O’Neill, Neb.) set a new Nebraska Wesleyan school record with his first place leap of 24-7 in the long jump at the Nebraska Wesleyan-Doane dual track meet on the new Woody Greeno track last Saturday (April 9).
His jump is the best mark in all of NCAA III by 6.5 inches and is an automatically qualifying mark for the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
The O’Neill St. Mary’s H.S., graduate also qualified for the NCAA III Outdoor Championships during his freshman season but was unable to compete due to injury. He was an All-American at the 2011 NCAA III Indoor Championships earlier this season as he placed seventh in the men’s long jump.
