Nebraska Wesleyan University will host their first outdoor track meet on the newly renovated Woody Greeno Track at Abel Stadium this Saturday (April 9) when they host rival Doane College in a track & field dual meet. Field events begin at 11 am, with the track events starting at 12:30 pm.
An official re-dedication ceremony will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday as Nebraska Wesleyan will thank the many alumni, parents and friends who contributed to the $500,000 raised for the new track project.
The new Mondo surface is identical to the one used at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Fast, durable and responsive, the new gold lanes on the track represent well the university’s proud tradition of excellence in track & field.
This will be the first collegiate track meet held at Nebraska Wesleyan since the spring of 2008 as the old track did not meet the standards of hosting a college event. NWU will host two outdoor meets this spring at the Woody Greeno Track. After Saturday’s dual with Doane, Nebraska Wesleyan will host the NWU Invite on April 22. Next spring Nebraska Wesleyan will be the host of the 2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships.
