NWU Men Place Four on All-GPAC Tennis Team

The Nebraska Wesleyan men’s tennis team had four players receive All-Conference honors when the Great Plains Athletic Conference men’s tennis teams were announced.  Two players were All-GPAC in singles play, and one doubles team was named All-Conference.

On the singles All-GPAC team, two NWU players were All-Conference and three received honorable mention.    

At No. 1 singles, sophomore Nate Hoppe (Lincoln, Neb.) was All-GPAC for the second straight season.  He was 10-10 overall and 5-2 at No. 1 singles in GPAC play.

Freshman Ryan McCarty (Grand Island, Neb.) was All-GPAC at No. 5 singles in his first season.  He was 8-13 overall and 5-2 in GPAC play.

Mike Larsen (Lincoln, Neb.), Jordan Barrett (Hastings, Neb.) and Drew Placek (Omaha, Neb.) all earned honorable mention recognition in singles play.  It was the second straight year that Larsen earned All-GPAC honorable mention in singles.

In doubles action, Ryan McCarty and Johnny Landell (Hastings, Neb.) teamed up to earn All-GPAC at No. 3 doubles.  McCarty/Landell were 8-4 overall and 4-1 in GPAC play.

Nebraska Wesleyan finished the 2010 season with an 8-13 overall record and a 4-3 record in the GPAC.  NWU lost in the semifinals of the GPAC Postseason Tournament.
