Tennis Teams Set for GPAC Championships

The Nebraska Wesleyan tennis teams have completed their regular season and now will prepare for the 2010 GPAC Tennis Championships that will be held May 7-8 in Fremont, Neb. The NWU women are the No. 2 seed, while the NWU men are the No. 4 seed.

With the No. 2 seed, the Prairie Wolves women receive a first round bye and will not compete until Saturday. NWU will face the winner of the Concordia/Northwestern match. The semifinal match is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Nebraska Wesleyan is 11-10 overall and 7-1 in the GPAC. They defeated both Concordia and Northwestern earlier this season defeating the Bulldogs, 5-4, and the Red Raiders, 9-0. The Prairie Wolves will attempt to qualify for their fourth straight NAIA Championships by winning the GPAC Tournament. Sioux Falls is the No. 1 seed and defeated NWU, 7-2, this past weekend in Sioux Falls for the Prairie Wolves only conference loss.

The Nebraska Wesleyan men are the No. 4 seed and will play the No. 5 seed, Doane College at 2:00 p.m., on Friday afternoon in Fremont. The Prairie Wolves defeated the Tigers, 6-3, in their regular season matchup. With a victory, NWU would advance to the semifinals where they would meet top-seeded Hastings College at 10 a.m., on Saturday morning.
