Tennis Splits With Scranton

Nebraska Wesleyan tennis teams split action on Tuesday (Mar. 16) on their spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C., as they took on the University of Scranton. The NWU women continued their solid play with a 8-1 victory for their second straight win, but the NWU men are still looking for their first win as they fell, 8-1.

The Prairie Wolves women improve to 3-5 overall on the season and 2-1 on their trip to Hilton Head. In the 8-1 victory Tuesday, the only loss was at No. 1 singles where Lexie Zoucha was not able to finish due to an injury. Her status for the rest of the week is unknown.

All of the other NWU matches were won in straight sets as Chelsea Henslee, Terah Maloley, Andrea Dasilva, Erica Dickmeyer and Molly Andrews were winners in singles action. In doubles action Dasilva and Dickmeyer teamed up to win 8-6 at No. 1, Henslee and Vanessa Johnson won 8-6 at No. 2 and Maloley and Taylor Powers got their fifth win of the year at No. 3 doubles.

For the Nebraska Wesleyan men, they fell to 0-7 on the season in the 8-1 loss to the Royals. For the second straight day, the only win for the Prairie Wolves men was at No. 1 singles where Nate Hoppe won his match. He defeated Scott Melideo in scores of 7-6 (7-4) and 6-2.
