The Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's tennis teams were both defeated by NCAA Division II Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday at the Nebraska Tennis Center in Lincoln. UNK defeated the NWU women, 6-3, then the Loper men beat the Prairie Wolves, 9-0.
A pair of freshmen teammed up to give the Prairie Wolves a doubles win in the women's match. Terah Maloley and Taylor Powers defeated the duo of Claire Bryan and Melissa Lyster, 8-5, in No. 3 doubles.
NWU picked up two victories in singles action, going three sets to win both matches. At No. 4 singles, freshman Erica Dickmeyer dropped the first set, 4-6. She came back to win the next two, 6-0, 10-6 for the victory.
The other victory for the Prairie Wolves was at No. 6 singles as Vanessa Johnson defeated Melissa Lyster in scores of 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
The UNK men swept past the Nebraska Wesleyan men who fall to 0-4 on the season. The closest match of the day was at No. 1 doubles as the duo of Nate Hoppe and Michael Larsen fell 8-4 to the Lopers No. 1 doubles team.
The next action for the Nebraska Wesleyan tennis teams will be during spring break when the Prairie Wolves play several matches in Hilton Head, S.C.
