Nebraska Wesleyan University swept this week’s Great Plains Athletic Conference tennis honors as senior Nate Hoppe and junior Erica Dickmeyer were named the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Tennis Players-of-the-Week for the week of March 26-April 1.
Hoppe (Lincoln, Neb.) is this week’s GPAC men’s tennis player of the week. Hoppe won both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles matches on the week. He recorded the Prairie Wolves only points in victories against Hastings as NWU lost 7-2. In his singles match he rallied back to win 4-6, 6-2 and 10-8 over Vinny Banda to improve to 7-6 overall. He also won his No. 1 doubles match. Hoppe also won both of his matches in the 9-0 victory over Midland.
Dickmeyer (Fremont, Neb.) is the GPAC women’s player of the week. Dickmeyer went 2-0 in both singles and doubles last week as Nebraska Wesleyan defeated Midland and Hastings to open GPAC play. Dickmeyer won in straight sets in both #2 singles matches and paired up with Maria Mota to win both #1 doubles matches. Her
singles record improved to 6-7, with her doubles record at 4-9.
The NWU men’s tennis team fell to Doane College on Wednesday night (Apr. 4) and the Prairie Wolves women will face Doane this afternoon in Crete.
