Defending Great Plains Athletic Conference tennis champions, the Nebraska Wesleyan men and women, both opened the 2012 GPAC season with convincing 9-0 victories over Midland University on Tuesday (Mar. 28) at the Nebraska Tennis Center in Lincoln.
Neither the of the Prairie Wolves teams lost a set against the Warriors in the conference opener.
The NWU men (2-11, 1-0 GPAC) won the No. 1 doubles match 8-4, then shutout the Warriors 8-0 in the other two doubles contests. NWU easily won all six singles matches.
On the women's side, the Prairie Wolves (4-8, 1-0 GPAC) picked up their fourth win of the season in routine fashion continuing their dominance from the 2011 season. NWU won all three doubles matches in scores of 8-0.
In singles play, the Prairie Wolves won five matches in straight sets with the No. 6 match won by retirement.
NWU will host Hastings College on Saturday (Mar. 31) at NTC.
