NWU Athletes Sweep GPAC Tennis Honors

Nebraska Wesleyan University tennis athletes swept the Great Plains Athletic Conference/Hauff Mid-America Sports tennis Players-of-the-Week honors for the week of March 10-16. Freshman Jamie Holmes was named the men’s tennis Player-of-the-Week, while freshman Chelsea Henslee was the women’s tennis Player-of-the-Week.

Holmes (Fr., Grand Island, Neb.) was a perfect 4-0 on the week at the No. 1 singles position. He also finished 3-1 at No. 1 doubles teamed up with his older brother Eric Holmes. He helped Nebraska Wesleyan finish 4-1 on the Prairie Wolves spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C. Holmes is in his first season competing for the NWU men’s tennis team. The NWU men are 9-5 overall on the season.

Henslee (Fr., Lincoln, Neb.) did not lose a match in singles or doubles on the spring break trip. She was 3-0 at No. 3 singles and joined partner Sarah Howe to go 3-0 at No. 3 doubles for the Prairie Wolves. Henslee helped NWU to a 4-1 record on the Prairie Wolves trip to Hilton Head, S.C. On the season, Henslee is 10-2 in singles and 10-1 in doubles matches. The NWU women’s tennis team is 8-5 so far this season.
