Men's Soccer Makes Home Debut With Third Straight Win

September 16, 2012

The Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer team made its home debut on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 16) and delivered a 3-0 victory over Coe College to extend their winning streak to three straight matches.

NWU (3-2-1), who played their first five matches on the road, scored all three goals within a two minute stretch of the second half.

Neither team was able to find the open goal in the first half as the match remained scoreless at halftime. The highlight of the first half came in the final minute as NWU goalkeeper Turner Mead made a great save on a penalty kick.

After 20 minutes of the second half still no team was able to score a goal.

Finally, in the 67th minute Kyle Jisa scored a goal on a shot from 18 yards out to put the Prairie Wolves on the board.

Just over one minute later, Colby Twist scored his fourth goal of the year as he converted on a breakaway. The flurry of goals did not stop there when Stephen Boakye scored on a cross from Alec Weiss only 25 seconds later to put the Prairie Wolves up 3-0.

Mead kept the Kohawks out of the goal to remain unbeaten and record a shutout.
