Penalty Kick Gives Dordt 1-0 Victory

October 24, 2009

Joe Lammers scored on a penalty kick at the 15:33 mark in the first half and that would be the only goal of the match as Dordt College defeated Nebraska Wesleyan University, 1-0, in Great Plains Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Saturday (Oct. 24) in Sioux Center, Iowa.

The loss drops NWU to 6-7-4 overall and 3-6-2 in the GPAC to fall into ninth in the league standings.  Dordt moves to 9-7 and 5-5 in GPAC play.

The Prairie Wolves also played the final 18 minutes of the match with only 10 players as Blake Gordon picked up his second yellow card of the match.  NWU had nine shots on goal, compared to only five for Dordt, but they could not get the ball in the net.

Nebraska Wesleyan has one final match of the 2009 season on this coming Saturday (Oct. 31) when they host Mount Marty College at 8 pm, to close out NWU Homecoming activities.
