Men End Season With 1-0 Win at Briar Cliff

Nebraska Wesleyan ended the 2011 season on a high note as they defeated Briar Cliff 1-0 on Saturday (Oct. 29) in the regular season men's soccer finale in Sioux City, Iowa.

Colby Twist scored the game-winning goal at the 67:08 mark for the only points of the match.

The victory gives the Prairie Wolves a final record of 6-12 overall and 4-6 in GPAC play. Briar Cliff ended the year with a record of 7-8-1, 4-6 GPAC.

It was a back and forth battle all game long between the Prairie Wolves and Chargers. NWU owned a slim 11-8 advantage in total shots and 8-6 edge in shots on goal.

Turner Mead got the shutout in goal as he recorded six saves in the match.

Twist had four of the NWU shots in the match while Zach Lind had three shots on goal.

Nebraska Wesleyan loses three seniors (Brad Fullerton, Jake Lamphere, Grant Johannes) off the 2011 squad that completed the season under first year coach Sean Steele.
