20th-ranked Hastings College held Nebraska Wesleyan to just one shot on goal as the Broncos defeated the Prairie Wolves, 3-0, in Great Plains Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Tuesday night (Sept. 29) in Hastings, Neb.
Hastings (6-2-2, 3-0-1 GPAC) remains in the conference lead and is looking for another GPAC crown, while NWU falls to 3-3-4 overall and 0-2-2 in the GPAC still looking for their first win in conference play.
The Broncos got on the board in the 10th minute of the match as Nate Polak scored after NWU goalie Josh Miller had deflected his previous shot back to him. The second goal of the match was scored by Greg Dodds off another rebound from a deflection to give the Broncos a 2-0 halftime lead. Hastings would add one more goal early in the second half.
Nebraska Wesleyan had just three total shots and only one on goal, while Hastings recorded 20 total shots and 14 on goal. Josh Miller had 10 saves for the Prairie Wolves but did give up three goals.
The Prairie Wolves will aim for their first GPAC win of the season on Saturday night when they host Briar Cliff University at 8 pm.
