Men Tie Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Physical Match

September 5, 2009

Cole McCallum scored in the 84th minute to tie the match at 1-1, and no goals were scored the rest of the match as Nebraska Wesleyan University and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh tied, 1-1, in a NCAA III men's soccer match on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 5) at Abel Stadium.

The Titans (1-0-1) controlled most of the first half, but neither team was able to score in the first 45 minutes as the match was tied 0-0 at intermission.

The first score of the match came during the 59th minute when Will Howell made a penalty kick to put UW-Oshkosh up 1-0.

NWU continued to put the pressure on and finally got on the board when Cole McCallum scored on a header off the rebound from a Brad Fullerton shot.

UW-Oshkosh outshot the Prairie Wolves, 21-10, but Josh Miller held his own in the goal for NWU as he recorded nine saves.

Nebraska Wesleyan will now have a short break before hosting their fourth straight home match on Sept. 11, when they host Crown College.
