The Nebraska Wesleyan University men's soccer team picked up their first win of the season on Thursday night (Sept. 5) when they blanked Buena Vista University, 3-0, in a NCAA Division III men's soccer match at Abel Stadium.
NWU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half when Nguyen Nguyen scored his first collegiate goal during the 40th minute to give the Prairie Wolves a 1-0 lead at intermission.
In the second half, the Prairie Wolves continued to put pressure on the Beavers and added two more goals. Cole McCallum scored on a beautiful header in the 78th minute, then Cyrus Jaffery capped off the scoring with a goal at the 86:21 mark.
NWU out shot Buena Vista, 29-2 with 13 of the shots coming on goal.
The Prairie Wolves will be right back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at 2 pm.
