October 15, 2008

Another GPAC match, another shutout victory for the Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer team. The Prairie Wolves held on for a 1-0 win over Doane College on Wednesday night (Oct. 15) in a GPAC men's soccer match in Crete, Neb. The win is the seventh straight victory for NWU.

The Prairie Wolves improve to 8-5 overall and 5-2 in the GPAC. The shutout victory marks the fifth straight time that NWU has shutout an NWU opponent. The Prairie Wolves now sit alone in fourth place in the GPAC standings.

Sean Norris scored the only goal of the match as he put the Prairie Wolves up 1-0 just seconds before the first half ended. Norris scored at the 44:48 mark off an assist from Mikah Mather.

From there it was the NWU defense that again was the story. GPAC Player-of-the-Week Josh Miller recorded another shutout as he had six saves in goal for the Prairie Wolves.

NWU had nine shots on goal and 22 total shots, compared to six shots on goal for Doane.

Nebraska Wesleyan will look to extend their current winning streak when they host Morningside College on Saturday night (Oct. 18) at Abel Stadium at 8 pm.
