Nathan Douglas broke away on a run and scored the game winning goal with just under five minutes left in double overtime as Concordia defeated Nebraska Wesleyan, 2-1, in GPAC men's soccer action on Wednesday night (Oct. 17) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln.
In a fast paced first half both teams had scoring opportunities but neither team could score as the game was tied 0-0 at halftime.
NWU got on the board first in the second half as Colby Twist scored his team-leading 13th goal as he stole the ball in the corner and hit it past the goalie.
The Prairie Wolves looked to be in control of the match as they kept Concordia at bay most of the second half. In the final 10 minutes, Sean Doran snuck the ball past goalkeeper Turner Mead as he scored of a deflection to tie the match.
Six shots were fired during the overtime period but neither NWU or Concordia scored sending the match to a second overtime period.
With the loss, Nebraska Wesleyan drops to 7-6-3, 4-3 GPAC, while Concordia is 10-5, 3-4 GPAC.
