September 22, 2010

Hastings College, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA, had 35 total shots in an impressive 4-0 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in Great Plains Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Wednesday night (Sept. 22) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln.

The Broncos constantly put pressure on the NWU defense with 14 shots on goal.

NWU goalkeeper Zach Mergens held his own recording 10 saves, but the Broncos proved to be too much as they continued to fire at the goal.

Nebraska Wesleyan held the Broncos out of the goal until the final 10 minutes of the first half. Matt Wadleigh scored at the 36:23 mark, then Derek Prinz added another goal off a corner kick with just under three minutes to play before half.

In the second half, Yannic Theil added two more goals to make the final score 4-0 in favor of Hastings.

Nebraska Wesleyan falls to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in GPAC, while the Broncos remain undefeated at 6-0 overall and 2-0 in GPAC. NWU will host Dordt College on Saturday night at Abel Stadium.
