September 6, 2010

Central College scored two first half goals and kept Nebraska Wesleyan out of the goal as the Dutch ruined the home opener for the Prairie Wolves with a 2-0 win in men's soccer action on Monday afternoon (Sept. 6) at Abel Stadium.

The Prairie Wolves had several good chances to score, but their shots could not find the open net.

Cody Jandik scored the first goal of the match for Central as he scored on a header from a throw in during the 11th minute. Central added another goal in the 22nd minute as Jonathan Schroeder scored a goal.

Neither team was able to score in the second half. Zach Mergens came in as the NWU goalie and posted a shutout in the final 45 minutes with two saves.

Brad Fullerton had a total of six shots for the Prairie Wolves, including a breakaway chance late in the match, but Central goalie Tim Maggard had an outstanding diving save.
