Golfers Tie for First at Illinois Wesleyan Invite

Nebraska Wesleyan and University of St. Francis (Ill.) were tied after day one and remained tied after the second day as the two teams both had totals of 602 to tie for the team title at the two-day Illinois Wesleyan Invitational played at Ironwood G.C. in Normal, Ill.

NWU and St. Francis both shot 305 on Friday, then came back with scores of 297 on Saturday to tie for the lead. Carthage College shot a low round of 288 on Saturday, as they finished one shot back of the Prairie Wolves and St. Francis.

A total of 23 teams played in the two-day event.

Nebraska Wesleyan was led by freshman Drew Taylor who fired a 4-over 148 to tie for sixth place. Taylor was the lone NWU player in the top 10.

Just outside the top 10 was Beau Brown who shot a 151 (+7) to finish in a four-way tie for 11th. Rory Doll was one stroke behind Brown with a 152 (+8) to tie for 15th. The fourth NWU golfer was Logan Palmer who ended in a tie for 32nd with a score of 156 (+12). Ryan Boyer shot a 158 (+14) to round out the NWU lineup.
