The Nebraska Wesleyan men's golf team shot a first day team score of 320 (+36) to tie for 20th place after day one of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships at Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Ga. The Prairie Wolves competed on the Woodlands Course on Tuesday (May 13).
The University of La Verne shot a team score of 290 (+6) to lead the tournament after day one. Scott Harris, Jr., from St. John Fischer College is the individual leader with a 3-under 68.
Senior Tyler Lawson led the NWU golfers by shooting a 5-over 76 which is good for a tie for 29th overall. Sophomore Nate Jaeger was close behind with a round of 78 to tie for 51st overall. Freshman Patrick Hanzel was third for NWU with a score of 82, while Geoff Oliphant and Phil Hranac both shot scores of 84.
NWU will tee off at 9:30 am on Wednesday on the Chateau Course.
A total of 35 teams and 180 individuals are competing at the NCAA III Championships which run from May 13-16 in Braselton, Ga.
