Golfers Place 9th at Twin Cities Classic

The NWU men's golf team posted their highest team score of the tournament on the third and final day of the Gustavus/Twin Cities Classic to finish in ninth place as a team. The Prairie Wolves shot a team score of 312 on Monday (Sept. 29) at White Bear Yacht Club to finish with a three-day total of 916.

Nebraska Wesleyan entered the final day in a tie for seventh place, but fell back to place ninth in a field of 23 teams. Illinois Wesleyan was the team champion with a three-day total of 870, edging St. John's University by four strokes.

Junior Nate Jaeger shot a 75 on Monday to finish the tournament at 1-over par 217 to place fifth individually out of 117 players. Jaeger was tied for second after his first day 68, then remained in second after firing a 74 on Sunday.

Andy Peterson from Central College was the individual medalist with a 2-under par 214.

For NWU, Patrick Hanzel posted the next lowest score at 229 (70-80-79) to finish in a tie for 35th. E.J. Hamilton tied for 62nd at 234 (78-76-80) and freshman Scott Bruening finished at 242 (79-76-84). Kyle Jaacks rounded out the NWU scoring with a 246 (86-82-78).
