Golfers Move Within 5 Strokes at GPAC Championships

The Nebraska Wesleyan University men's golf team pulled within five strokes of the lead after firing a round of 308 at the GPAC Qualifier #3 on Thursday (Apr. 9) at Lochland Country Club in Hastings, Neb. NWU now has a team score of 913 to trail Dakota Wesleyan University by five strokes.

The Prairie Wolves had the third lowest score on Thursday at Hastings with their total of 308. Hastings College shot a 303 and Dordt College had a 307. Dakota Wesleyan, which led NWU by 19 strokes heading into Thursday, placed sixth on Thursday with a 322.

Nate Jaeger led NWU with a round of 75 which was tied for the fourth lowest score of the day. E.J. Hamilton shot a 77, while Patrick Hanzel and Kyle Jaacks were both one stroke back at 78.

After three rounds of the GPAC Championships, Hamilton is now tied for the individual lead at +8. He is tied with Brett Abbotts from DWU and Justin Zebolsky from Midland Lutheran.

Also in the individual top 10 for NWU is Nate Jaeger who is tied for eighth at +15. Patrick Hanzel is tied for tenth with a three-day total of +16.

The GPAC Championships is now down to a two-team race with Nebraska Wesleyan and Dakota Wesleyan. The Tigers lead the Prairie Wolves by five strokes, and NWU leads third place Hastings by 22 strokes.

The final GPAC Qualifier will be held April 28 at Whispering Creek Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa.
