A pair of Nebraska Wesleyan University men’s golfers have been named to the Division III Ping All-America teams. Sophomore Patrick Hanzel was named to the Ping All-America Second-Team and junior Nate Jaeger was on the Third-Team.
Hanzel (Lincoln, Neb.) just placed in a tie for 15th at the NCAA Division III Championships that were held May 13-16 at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He had a four-day total of 296 (+8) and shot his lowest round of the tournament on the last day when he shot even par 72. The graduate of Lincoln Pius also earned his second straight All-GPAC honor this season when he tied for eighth at the GPAC Championships.
Jaeger (Lexington, Neb.) was named to the Ping All-America Third Team after placing in a tie for 22nd at the NCAA III Championships. He had a four-day total of 297 (+9) to finish just one stroke back of Hanzel. Jaeger had back-to-back rounds of 72 the first two days then finished with a 75-78. This is the second All-America honor for the Lexington H.S., graduate after being named to the Third-Team in 2007 when he was honored as the most outstanding freshman in NCAA III golf.
Nebraska Wesleyan has now had 16 different players earn 24 All-America honors, and 13 All-Americans since 2004.
This season NWU finished in a tie for 10th place at the NCAA III Championships and won the 2009 GPAC Championship for the 12th time in the last 15 seasons.
