NWU Men Take Lead at GPAC Golf Qualifier

Defending conference champion Nebraska Wesleyan University took an early lead at the first Great Plains Athletic Conference men's golf qualifier that was played Tuesday (Sept. 13) at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton, S.D.

NWU shot a 296 for the low round of the day, two strokes better than second place Northwestern College.

It was a pair of freshmen that led the way for the Prairie Wolves in the opening tournament of the season for the NWU golf team.

Logan Palmer shot a 1-under par 71 for the second best round of the tournament and lead NWU. Teammate and fellow freshman Drew Taylor was one shot back with an even par 72 to tie for third overall.

Beau Brown fired a score of 76 with Rory Doll and Zach Peed each shooting 77 to round out the Prairie Wolves lineup.

Neil Malenke from Northwestern had the individual low round of the day with a 4-under par 68.

The next GPAC men's golf qualifier will be October 6 at Lochland Country Club in Lincoln.
