Golfers Close Out Fall Season

The Nebraska Wesleyan University men's golf team closed out the fall portion of their 2012-13 season with a fifth place finish at the NAIA Midwest Invitational.

The invitational was played at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, home to a PGA Tour event.

NWU shot a two-day total of 608 (301-307) to place fifth in the field of 17 total teams from across the Midwest.

Ashford University won the tournament with a total of 594 to defeat Mount Mercy University by two strokes.

Sophomore Drew Taylor led the Prairie Wolves with another top ten finish. Taylor had a total of 149 (72-77) to tie for sixth overall with a +7. Trey Pfund from Marian won the tournament with a -4 138.

Two other Prairie Wolves finished in the top 25. Rory Doll took four strokes off his day one total to tie for 17th at 152 (78-74) while Logan Palmer was just one stroke back at 153 (74-79) to tie for 22nd. Alec Raabe was the other NWU scoring individual and shot a 155 (77-78) to tie for 28th.

The Prairie Wolves, who as of Oct. 18th were ranked No. 1 in the Golfstat NCAA Division III rankings, are now finished with tournaments for the fall season.
