Hanzel Named to PING All-Region Team

Nebraska Wesleyan University senior men’s golfer Patrick Hanzel has been named to the 2011 PING Central Region All-Region team as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America.Patrick Hanzel

Hanzel (Lincoln, Neb.) has a season stroke average of 74.47 during the 2010-11 season which led the Prairie Wolves. Hanzel won the 2010-11 GPAC Men’s Golf Championship for his victory on the season. He had five top five finishes during his senior season.

The Lincoln Pius X H.S., graduate was a 2009 NCAA III Second-Team All-American. He is currently second all-time at Nebraska Wesleyan with a career stroke average of 75.71 in 66 rounds of golf. Hanzel has three career victories and has shot eight rounds under par.

Hanzel fired a (+1) 73 on the first day of the 2011 NCAA III Championships on Tuesday (May 10) at Greensboro, N.C., to sit in a tie for 30th overall. As a team the Prairie Wolves shot a team score of 311 to tie for 30th. Only the top 15 teams and top five individuals not on a top 15 team will make the cut for the final two rounds of the NCAA III Championships. Nebraska Wesleyan teed of at 8:30 am on Wednesday.
