Patrick Hanzel shot a round of 68 to lead the Nebraska Wesleyan University men's golf team to a first place finish at the GPAC Men's Golf Qualifier #1 that was played Monday (Sept. 13) at The Ridge Golf Course in Sioux Center, Iowa.
NWU had a team score of 291 to hold a seven stroke advantage over Northwestern College and a eight stroke lead over third place Dakota Wesleyan University.
Hanzel shot a 68 to hold a two-stroke lead over Travis Johnson from Dakota Wesleyan. Hanzel had a 35 on the front nine, then a 33 on the back to post his 3-under par round of 68.
Geoff Oliphant and Rory Doll both shot scores of 74 for Nebraska Wesleyan and are in a tie for sixth place individually. Ryan Boyer rounded out the NWU scoring at one stroke back with a 75 to sit in a tie for ninth. The fifth Prairie Wolves golfer was Kyle Jaacks who shot a 79.
