32 Teams to Run at Woody Greeno Invitational

The 22nd Annual Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational Cross Country meet is set for Saturday morning (Sept. 15) at Pioneers Park in Lincoln, Neb. The meet is co-hosted by Nebraka Wesleyan University and the University of Nebraska. The women’s race will start at 10 a.m., followed by the men’s race at 10:45.

A total of 32 teams and 739 runners are scheduled to compete in the annual event. Teams from all levels of competition will be running. Six NCAA Division I teams, eight NCAA II teams, two NCAA III teams, 10 NAIA teams and six junior colleges will be running on Saturday.

This will be the first meet of the season for the Prairie Wolves cross country teams. The NWU men have 13 letterwinners returning from last season. NWU has qualified for 15 straight NCAA III men’s national championships, which is the third longest streak in the country. The NWU women are ranked No. 33 in this week’s NCAA III rankings. NWU returns 10 letterwinners from the women’s team that won their seventh straight GPAC championship last season.

Last season, the Nebraska Wesleyan men won the Woody Greeno Invite College Division and the NWU women placed third in the division.
