Spelts Earns All-America Honors

Jackie Spelts ran a time of 22:22.6 to place ninth overall at the 2009 NCAA III Cross Country championships on Saturday (Nov. 21) in Cleveland, Ohio to earn her second straight All-American honor.

Spelts helped the NWU women finish 12th in the team race with 365 team points.  The Nebraska Wesleyan men placed 27th in the men's race.

For Spelts, a senior from Burwell, it marked the second straight season that she placed in the top 10 at the NCAA III Championships.  She was 5th at the 2008 race.

Hayley Sutter was 105th for NWU, while Amanda Costello was just behind her at 109th to join Spelts as the top three NWU placers.

The NWU men were led by senior Logan Watley who was the lone Prairie Wolves runner to finish in the top 100.  Watley was 88th in a time of 26:40.  NWU was 27th in the 32 team race.
