Nebraska Wesleyan University Director of Track & Cross Country Dr. Ted Bulling has released the names of 30 recruits who plan to compete in cross country and/or track and field while attending NWU in 2005-06.
“I am pleased with the group as a whole,” Bulling said. “It is a balanced recruiting class in that we have talented men and women in all event areas. Some will be major factors on the national level right away and some will be competitive in a year or two.”
The recruiting class includes three state champions, including Matt Glasnapp (Class B 100-meter dash), Hannah Rankin (Class A pole vault) and Logan Watley (Class C two-mile run).
The Nebraska Wesleyan men have won five of the last six conference team titles in men’s cross country and have placed in the top 10 at the NCAA Division III Championships six times in the last seven years. The women’s cross country team has qualified for the NCAA Div. III Championships in eight of the last nine seasons, which includes four top-10 finishes.
In track and field, NWU’s men have won 32 of the past 34 conference team crowns (17 outdoor, 15 indoor) and have placed in the top 10 at the NCAA Div. III Championships in 18 of the last 21 years. The women have 13 top-10 finishes in Div. III since 1989.
