Cross Country Has Great Day in Wisconsin

The Nebraska Wesleyan University cross country teams had an outstanding day at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 17) in La Crosse, Wis.  The Prairire Wolves women placed second overall in the field of 32 teams, while the NWU men finished seventh.

All-American Jackie Spelts led the NWU women with an impressive third place finish overall, while teammate Hayley Sutter was eighth overall.  A total of 448 runners competed in the women's 6K race and NWU had two of the top 10 runners.  Spelts ran a time of 21:53.8, while Sutter's time was 22:05.8.

For the Nebraska Wesleyan men they finished third among all NCAA DIII teams.  Logan Watley led the placings with a 23rd place finish in a time of 25:36.4.  Brian Copley was the next to cross the finish line for NWU in 31st place with a time of 25:42.7.
