Women 2nd, Men 3rd at GPAC Cross Country Championships

The Nebraska Wesleyan University cross country teams both placed in the top three at the 2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships that were held Saturday (Nov. 3) at Adams Nature Preserve in McCook Lake, S.D. The NWU women tied for 2nd, while the Prairie Wolves men were third.

Dordt College won the women's team title as they had runners place third-eighth.

Nebraska Wesleyan tied for second with Concordia University with 91 points. Leading the way for the Prairie Wolves was freshman Gabi Jenkins. Jenkins earned All-GPAC honors by placing 10th with a time of 18:22.65. The other NWU runner to place in the top 15 was Erin Kautz who placed 13th in a time of 18:55.87.

In the men's race, Concordia University (48) won the team title with Morninside (55) taking second place. NWU had 75 team points to place third.

Senior Johnny Rutford had a good day for the Prairie Wolves as he placed fourth overall in the men's 8K race. Rutford earns All-GPAC recognition with his time of 25:17.45. Also placing in the top ten was Zach Brown in seventh place in a time of 25:28.44.
