The Nebraska Wesleyan cross country teams had good showings at the 38th Annual Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Ill., on Oct. 2. The NWU women placed ninth as a team, while the men were 17th.
For the 10th-ranked Prairie Wolves women, three runners placed in the top 60 in a field of over 500 runners. The ninth place team finish was among 41 total teams.
Amanda Costello led the way with a 31st place finish in a time of 18:38. Malaina Huebert and Katie Nelson finished side-by-side as they were 56th and 57th, respectively in a time of 19 minutes. Two other NWU women were in the top 100 to help the Prairie Wolves to their top ten finish. Meleia Oestmann crossed the line in 82nd place, while Hannah Kinberg was close behind in 87th.
The Nebraska Wesleyan men were 17th in the field of 41 teams. Three Prairie Wolves were in the top 100 individually. Kyle Wagner led the way with his 40th place finish in a time of 25:57. The next Prairie Wolf to cross the line was Mike Rathje, who ran 26:17 to place 87th. Jordan Rector had a time of 26:24 to finish in 98th.
The NWU men were ranked No. 33 in the most recent NCAA Division III rankings.
