Wolves Complete Season Sweep Over Doane

Nebraska Wesleyan completed their season sweep for the second year in a row as they defeated Doane, 70-55, in GPAC men's basketball action on Wednesday night (Feb. 3) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln, Neb., on rivalry night in the GPAC.

For the second straight game the Prairie Wolves shot over 50 percent from the floor as they finished at 52.1 percent for the game, while holding Doane to just 34.5 percent.

NWU improves to 8-12 overall and 6-7 in GPAC, while Doane falls to 5-17, 4-10 in GPAC action.

The win for NWU is the fifth straight win for the Prairie Wolves over Doane.

Nebraska Wesleyan built up a 10 point lead in the first half and led 33-22 at halftime. The Prairie Wolves would stretch out their lead to 19 points three times with the last time coming at the 5:18 mark. Doane closed within 10 points at 62-52 with 2:49 to play, but that was as close as they would get.

Four NWU players reached double figures for the Prairie Wolves in the balanced attack. Jim Lance led the way with 16 points, while Nick Dinan added 13. Jake Spurgeon scored 12 with six assists and five rebounds, whild Bryca Arp chipped in 12.

Jake Johnson scored 15 points to lead Doane.

NWU will look to extend their win streak to three on Saturday when they complete their homestand by hosting Mount Marty College.
