13th-ranked Sioux Falls shot a blazing 54.5 percent from the field as they defeated Nebraska Wesleyan, 80-69, in Great Plains Athletic Conference men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 16) in Sioux Falls, S.D.
USF improved to 16-5 overall and 8-2 in the GPAC, while NWU fell to 5-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play.
Both teams struggled shooting from 3-point range as they teams combined to make only two 3-pointers. NWU was 1-11, while Sioux Falls was 1-10.
Junior guard Matt Malloy had a huge game for the Cougars posting a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Fellow teammate and backcourt mate Thomas Frames scored 18 points for the Cougars to pace Sioux Falls.
NWU had three players reach double figures led by Nick Dinan who had a career-high 16 points and led the team with six rebounds. Andy Schweitzer scored 12 points and Bryce Arp came off the bench to score 11 points. Jake Spurgeon scored six points and had a game-high six assists.
Nebraska Wesleyan returns back to Snyder Arena for a quick turnaround as they host Midland Lutheran on Monday night (Jan. 18) at 8 pm.
