Nebraska Wesleyan shot just 28.3 percent from the field as they opened the 2009-10 season 0-2 with a 61-49 loss to Simpson College in the consolation game of the Bill Merris Tournament in Jacksonville, Ill.
The Prairie Wolves did not have a single player reach double figures in scoring and went 15-53 from the field, including 4-24 from 3-point range.
NWU led 25-24 at halftime, as they held Simpson to just 32.0 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes. Simpson came out firing in the second half going 15-28 from the floor.
From the 14:00 minute mark until just over seven minutes in the second half, Simpson went on a 19-6 run to pull away.
Nick Dinan led NWU with nine points to go along with six rebounds and five steals.
The Prairie Wolves will have their home opener on Tuesday (Nov. 24) when they host Hastings College in the Great Plains Athletic Conference opening game.
