Mount Marty led from start to finish as the Lancers snapped Nebraska Wesleyan's two-game winning streak as Mount Marty defeated NWU, 63-56, in a game between two teams tied for eighth in the GPAC men's basketball standings.

The Lancers snap their three-game losing streak and improve to 10-12, 6-9 in GPAC while the Prairie Wolves fall to 9-11, 5-10 in GPAC.

Mount Marty built up an early double digit lead in the first half.

After shooting over 50 percent in each of the past two games, the Nebraska Wesleyan offense struggled early on. The Prairie Wolves went scoreless for a period of 6:22 as they did not score a point from 12:32-6:10 in the first half. NWU did climb back within three points in the first half but Tom Kahler hit a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer to give Mount Marty a 31-24 halftime lead.

NWU remained close the entire second half and got the lead back down to within three points but could get no closer.

In the final minutes of the game Mount Marty held a five-point lead. They ran down the shot clock and missed a jump shot but got the offensive rebound and putback to seal the win.

Four different players scored in double figures for NWU led by Eric Jackson with 12 points. Trent Scheitel had his first career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds while Bryce Arp and Andy Schweitzer each had 10.

Spencer Yackley was the story for Mount Marty as he scored 22 points on 8-11 shooting.

NWU will now have three straight home games beginning with a rivalry game against Concordia on Feb. 1 at Snyder Arena.
