With the game tied at 69-69 in the final seconds senior point guard Nick Dinan drove the left side of the hoop and hit a layup and converted the free throw for the old fashioned 3-point play to give Nebraska Wesleyan a 72-69 at Midland University on Wednesday in GPAC men's basketball action.

Midland had an attempt to tie the game as Galen Gullie attempted a 3-pointer but it was long and NWU secured the rebound and the win.

NWU improves to 9-10 overall and 5-9 in the GPAC, while the Warriors dropped just their second GPAC home game to fall to 13-9, 8-6 in GPAC.

The Prairie Wolves led by five points at halftime as Eric Jackson hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give NWU a 35-30 lead.

Nebraska Wesleyan came out firing in the second half as they scored the first 10 points to go up 45-30 and build a 15-point lead. Midland got their first point of the second half at the 15:18 mark to end the NWU run.

Midland continued to chip away at the Prairie Wolves the entire second half.

With 1:17 left to play Ben Imig hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 67-67 for the first tie of the second half.

On the other end Trevor Johnson made a layup with 30.4 seconds left to put NWU up by two points. Midland came down on their possession and Gullie hit two free throws to tie the game. That set up the eventual game-winner for Dinan.

Senior Bryce Arp came off the bench to lead Nebraska Wesleyan. Arp was 6-7 from the floor and 4-4 at the free throw line to score a season-high 16 points. He was playing due to Tim Schweitzer being sidelined in foul trouble.

Trevor Johnson added 14 points, while Andy Schweitzer scored 11. As a team the Prairie Wolves continued their hot shooting hitting 54.5 percent as a team. NWU shot 63.6 percent in the second half.

Midland was led by Imig with 17 points. Gullie scored 14.

Nebraska Wesleyan will take their two-game winning streak on the road this Saturday to Yankton, S.D., to face Mount Marty College.
