Men Picked 9th in GPAC Basketball Poll

The Nebraska Wesleyan University basketball team was picked to finish ninth in the 2009-10 preseason GPAC Coaches' poll that was released on Tuesday (Oct. 14). The poll was voted on by all 12 coaches with points awarded on a 12-1 basis and coaches could not vote for their own team.

GPAC LogoDakota Wesleyan totaled 140 points and nine first place votes as the preseason favorite in the GPAC after they went 25-9 in 2008-09 to finish second. Briar Cliff got three first place votes and 129 votes for second while Sioux Falls was third.  Morningside got the other first place vote and was picked fifth. 

NWU head coach Cam Schuknecht, who is in his fourth season as head coach of the Prairie Wolves, is expected to return three starters and 10 letter winners from last season's squad that finished 10-15

The Prairie Wolves will open practice on Oct. 15 with the opening games during the weekend of Nov. 20-21 at the Bill Merris Tournament in Jacksonville, Ill.  NWU plays Milwaukee School of Engineering on Nov. 20 to begin the year.
