NWU Men Open Snyder Classic With Win

Nebraska Wesleyan limited Presentation College to just 33.3 percent shooting from the field as the Prairie Wolves defeated the Saints, 71-49, on Friday (Nov. 28) during the first day of the 20th Annual Snyder Classic in Lincoln, Neb.

Nebraska Wesleyan remains perfect on the season as they improve to 4-0 to start the 2008-09 season. Presentation falls to 1-2 on the year.

The Prairie Wolves shot 50.0 percent on their end of the floor as four players reached double figures in scoring for NWU.

Ryan Thramer, the 2007 Snyder Classic MVP, led NWU with 14 points going 6-10 from the floor and 2-4 from 3-point range. Jake Spurgeon had 12 points and led the team with four assists.

Brandon Arp hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 11 points, while Dyland Aylward also added 11. Preston Englund came off the bench to lead the team with seven rebounds.

For Presentation (an NCAA III school located in Aberdeen, S.D.), Lucas Bruns and Adam Holt each had 11 points.

In the first game of the night, Simpson College defeated the University of Dallas, 80-69.

NWU will play Dallas Saturday night at 7:30 pm. Simpson and Presentation will play in the first game at 5:30.
