Tigers Hold Off NWU, 77-64

Nebraska Wesleyan battled hard and was within single digits for the majority of the second half, but in the end Dakota Wesleyan was too much as they defeated the Prairie Wolves, 77-64, in GPAC men's basketball action on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 18) at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D.

DWU (16-5, 7-2 GPAC) moves into a tie for first place in the GPAC standings, while Nebraska Wesleyan falls to 8-7 overall and 4-4 in the GPAC.

NWU led for the majority of the first half, but DWU took over the lead right before the half, and never trailed again.

Brady Wiebe had a huge game for the Tigers with 27 points and 15 rebounds, going 17-18 from the free throw line. Colby Fitzgerald scored 14 points and Chase Walder had 11.

For NWU, Dylan Aylward led the way with 15 points, while Brandon Arp added 12. Ryan Thramer had 10 rebounds.

NWU plays at Midland Lutheran on Wednesday (Jan. 21).
