Hot Shooting Vikings Blow Past NWU Men

January 28, 2009

Dana College shot a blistering 59.3 percent from the field in the first half to jump out to a 18-point halftime lead and the Vikings went on to cruise to a 72-54 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in GPAC men's basketball action on Wednesday night (Jan. 28) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln, Neb.

Dana shot over 70 percent for the first 10 minutes of the first half to jump out to an early 24-6 lead and they never looked back.

NWU struggled from the floor early and finished the game shooting just 35.3 percent from the floor. The one bright spot for the Prairie Wolves was from 3-point range where NWU was 5-8.

This was just the fourth victory for Dana in Lincoln in the last 20 years since the 1988-89 season. The 18-point deficit was the second largest defeat in the 112 game history of the all-time series.

Gabe Bross came off the bench to score 20 points to lead Dana College. Jon Person added 15 points.

Ryan Thramer led NWU with 13 points, while Dylan Aylward added 12 points.

NWU will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host nationally-ranked Morningside College at 4 p.m.
