The Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team shot just 30.1 percent from the floor and 19.0 percent from 3-point range as they dropped their seventh straight game losing 71-57 to Mount Marty College on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 7) in Yankton, S.D.
The Prairie Wolves now fall to 8-13 overall and 4-10 in the GPAC and have not won a game since their upset win over Dordt College on Jan. 10.
Mount Marty snapped their five game losing streak and got just their second GPAC win of the season with the win over NWU. The Lancers improve to 5-21 overall and 2-12 in the conference.
NWU could just not get the ball to go in the hoop the entire game. They shot only 30.8 percent in the first half to fall behind 35-22 at halftime. The second half was even with the Lancers outscoring NWU by just one point.
The Prairie Wolves pulled within four points with just over 11 minutes to play. However, the Lancers responded with a 12-3 run and got the lead back to double digits. NWU did get the lead down to seven points at the 1:43 mark, but that was as close as they would get.
Three players scored in double figures with Dylan Aylward leading the way with 11 points. Ryan Thramer and Preston Englund both had 10 points.
Five players scored in double figures for Mount Marty, led by Weston Kusser who had 16 points.
