Prairie Wolves Fall at Home to #7 Northwestern
7th-ranked Northwestern College built up a double digit lead right before halftime and never let Nebraska Wesleyan back within single digits as the Red Raiders came to Lincoln and defeated the Prairie Wolves 79-64 in GPAC men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 12) at Snyder Arena.
The Red Raiders (15-4, 9-2 GPAC) complete the season sweep of the Prairie Wolves (8-8, 3-8 GPAC) and remain on top of the GPAC standings while NWU drops its third consecutive league game and falls back to .500 at 8-8 overall.
Northwestern went on a 5-0 run right before halftime to build a 13 point lead at 41-28 at the break.
The Prairie Wolves tried to chop away at the lead but could never get in an offensive flow. NWU got within 12 points at the 15:15 mark but that is as close as they would get the rest of the way.
Northwestern had four players in double figures led by guard Ben Miller. Miller had a solid game for the Red Raiders with 18 points, four rebounds and five assists. Zack Leeper added 15 points.
NWU had three in double figures led by Trent Scheitel who came off the bench for 13 points. Jonah Bradley scored 12 and Tim Schwetizer had 1 points, six rebounds and four assists.
