Wolves Finish Undefeated in Non-Conference Play

December 29, 2012

Nebraska Wesleyan finished its non-conference portion of the schedule with a perfect 5-0 record as the Prairie Wolves closed out non-conference play with a 64-51 victory over Monmouth College on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 29) in Monmouth, Ill.

The Prairie Wolves have now won two straight and three of their last four to improve to 7-5 overall.

NWU jumped out to a 28-12 halftime lead over the Fighting Scots who fall to 2-9 overall. Monmouth shot just 15 percent from the field in in the first half hitting only 4-26 from the floor.

Nebraska Wesleyan then extended their lead to as many as 22 points to start the second half. Monmouth made a run and cut the lead to 10 points, but a Eric Jackson 3-pointer put NWU back ahead by 13 points and the Scots would get no closer.

Jackson led the Prairie Wolves with 18 points, hitting 4-9 from 3-point range. With his four 3-pointers, Jackson moves up to 7th on the NWU all-time career 3-point list passing Marcus Minzel as Jackson now has made 127 career 3-pointers.

As a team the Prairie Wolves were 9-21 from 3-point range as Jonah Bradley was 3-4 and Trey Bardsley was 2-3.

NWU also dominated on the glass with a 42-30 advantage in rebounding despite the tall frontcourt of the Scots.

Nebraska Wesleyan returns to GPAC play on Wednesday as they host Morningside College in conference action.
