Trinity University went on a 23-2 run in the first half to pull away from Nebraska Wesleyan for a 65-51 victory in NCAA Division III men's basketball action on Wednesday night (Dec. 29) in San Antonio, Texas.

NWU got off to a great start building up a 15-6 lead to start the game. The Prairie Wolves would then go ice cold as they would make just one field goal in the final 11:49 of the first half. Trinity took advantage of the cold NWU shooting as they outscored the Prairie Wolves 25-4 to end the half with a 31-19 lead.

The Prairie Wolves finished the first half shooting a mere 22.7 percent from the floor in the first half as they converted 5-22 from the field.

Nebraska Wesleyan immediately cut the lead to seven points to start the second half, but that would be the only time they would get the lead into double digits. The Tigers led by as many as 20 points before ending with the 14-point victory.

Freshman Jonah Bradley was one of the lone bright spots for NWU. Bradley got NWU off to the quick start making three 3-pointers to put them ahead by nine. Bradley finished with a career-high 18 points and nine rebounds. The only other player to reach double figures was fellow freshman Eric Jackson with 10 points. Another freshman, Tim Schweitzer, came off the bench to score eight points with seven rebounds in only his second career game.

Trinity, which improves to 3-6 overall, was led by Luke Caldarera with 18 points and seven rebounds.

NWU falls to 5-6 overall and will now be off until Jan. 5, when they return to GPAC action in a game at Midland University in Fremont.
