Long time conference rivals Nebraska Wesleyan University and Doane College are set to tangle this Saturday (Dec. 11) in a GPAC basketball doubleheader. The women's game will tip-off at 2 pm, with the men to follow at 4 pm at Snyder Arena in Lincoln, Neb.
In the women's game, Nebraska Wesleyan will try to snap a 14-game losing streak to the Tigers. The last win for NWU over Doane was during the 2002-03 season. NWU is trying to snap their current three-game losing streak as they are now 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the GPAC. Doane is coming off a 40-point loss to Mount Marty to fall to 2-9 overall and 1-3 in GPAC.
On the men's side, Nebraska Wesleyan has won five straight meetings over Doane. The two teams will be playing for the 187th time on Saturday and the historic all-time series is completely even at 93-93. NWU has lost three straight games to fall to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the GPAC, and Doane fell to 7-4 and 2-2 in the GPAC. The Tigers were receiving votes in this week's NAIA II Top 25 poll.
